About this site
About six years ago I accidentally noticed a large number of knife blanks at a wood shop I had visited for some woodworking supplies. On a whim, I bought one of the blanks, and managed to glue up, and pin a handle on it. Imagine the scene of a very non-clued person with a dremel tool and a griding attachment slowly shaping the handle on a badly made blank.
But thats where it started. I ended up buying a few cheap (harbor freight) tools, including a 1x30 belt sander.
From there I began learning how to correctly install handle scales, how to add liners, even how to play around with segmented handles. I wanted better tools, but needed more space as the patio of my apartment was already pretty crowded.
Fast-forward three years and me finally having a nice garage to build a shop in, except I was so busy with work, I never followed through on my plans to build out a legitimate shop. Well, earlier this year I finally got started. I built a forge and made a 'Frosty-T' burner for it, imagine just a pile of soft firebricks arranged a bit like a forge.
Then came a 2x72" belt grinder, then more tools, then a pre-built forge that works far better than my homebrew version.
In short, aside from a power hammer, or a forging press, I really don't have any excuses to NOT start building knives, either stock-removal, or forging them. So here I am, on this journey of learning. I don't consider myself particularly skilled, but I'm working on improving what skills I do have. This website is just a place where I can post some of the knives I've made over time, and as soon as I find it, I'll take some photos of that very first knife, and get it added to this page.
